Germany’s most famous video game musician Chris Huelsbeck provides soundtrack for new Boulder Dash version!
Munich, Germany – February 17, 2025 – Chris Huelsbeck, one of the world’s best-known video game musicians of all time, provides the soundtrack for new Boulder Dash 40th Anniversary version. With his soundtracks for The Giana Sisters, Turrican, Star Wars Rogue Squadron, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate and over 80 other games, the German-born artist, who lives in the USA since 1998, has made history.
Munich-based publisher BBG Entertainment has now hired Chris Hülsbeck to provide the soundtrack for Boulder Dash 40th Anniversary. “Boulder Dash was one of my absolute favorite games when I got my first C64 in the 80s. I’m delighted to be involved in the wonderful new edition of Boulder Dash 40th Anniversary and to be able to contribute a remix of the title music and sound effects,” says Chris Hülsbeck, who is not only a composer but also a lecturer.
Boulder Dash is one of the most popular video games of all time and founded an entire genre. Boulder Dash 40th Anniversary is set to be the most extensive and spectacular version of the series to date. In addition to the 60 original levels from Boulder Dash, Boulder Dash 2 and Boulder Dash 3 in the original look, over 80 new levels will be included, including the best levels from the global Boulder Dash community. There will also be a level editor and three selectable characters. The release is planned for PC, Mac, Switch, Xbox and PlayStation in April. A free demo version is already available for PC and Mac on Steam.

About Chris Hülsbeck
Chris Huelsbeck is an award winning composer and sound designer, best known for his work in the video games industry for 39 years. Credits include projects like the Star Wars Rogue Squadron Series, Turrican, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate, Giana Sisters, Tunnel B1, Extreme Assault, War of the Worlds, Doctor Who: Legacy and Symphonic Shades. Born 1968 in Kassel / Germany, Chris Huelsbeck found himself dedicated to music at a very young age and started piano lessons with his Grandmother, a well respected piano teacher. Soon he composed his first original music pieces. At age 14 he acquired his first computer, the legendary Commodore 64, and started to learn various programming languages while still playing and composing music. A few years later he won the first prize in a computer-music contest hosted by a famous German computer magazine. This was the beginning of his career as a professional composer for computer and video game soundtracks.
